The main objective is to achieve medical and social rehabilitation of patients requiring high-technology organ replacing treatment methods. Organ transplantation requires the cooperation of high qualification physicians and a range of services: transplantation immunology, surgery, and specialized (nephrologists, hepatologists, endocrinologists, cardiologists) management of patients before and after transplantation; morphological monitoring to ensure long-term passage of a transplanted organ. Today living-related and postmortem liver and kidney transplantations are performed in “NSMC”. There is an established National Organs Transplantation Coordination Center.

Liver transplantation is a unique, the most technically complicated surgery requiring highly specialized training of the whole medical staff of a clinic. Survivability of liver transplant recipients at the “NSMC” JSC is 89%, which corresponds to the European Registry data.

Renal transplantation is carried out according to the standardized in the world practice technique with application of high technologies: endoscopic kidney taking from a donor, different group transplantation, the latest techniques of immunosuppression and prevention of transplant rejection.

Surgeries for organs transplantations are performed by highly qualified organ transplant surgeons, who passed training and internship in the leading transplantation centers of the world (Turkey, Japan, South Korea, Spain, etc.).

Transplantation of stem cells at chronic liver and kidney diseases are also performed in the department. Patients who need organ transplantation undergo examination (HLA-typing, cross-match) for being listed on the waiting list and for selection of potential donors.
