The National Scientific Medical Center JSC remains a national leader in introducing innovative diagnostic and treatment technologies into Kazakhstan’s healthcare system.
On June 12–13, ahead of Medical Worker’s Day, a masterclass was held at the Center on the topic:
“From Plaque to Flow – Modern Treatment Strategies Using Jetstream Rotational Atherectomy”.
Critical limb ischemia most commonly affects elderly patients with atherosclerosis and diabetes and is associated with a high risk of cardiovascular complications and mortality.
The masterclass was led by:
guest expert Pavel Kan (Surgut, Russian Federation)
interventional radiologist N.B. Malaev
vascular surgeon N.K. Elyubaev
Six patients underwent live case procedures, two of which involved the use of the Jetstream system by Boston Scientific. This innovative device restores arterial patency through specialized rotational blades and active aspiration to safely remove atherosclerotic plaques and thrombi.
The event included both theoretical and practical components. Doctors from other medical institutions in Astana also participated and received certificates upon completion.
