Experts warn: Sedentary lifestyle increases the likelihood of developing cardiovascular diseases.

Modern lifestyle increasingly involves prolonged sitting in front of a computer or television screen. However, experts warn that this sedentary lifestyle can have serious consequences for heart and vascular health.

A recent study conducted by an international group of scientists confirmed that excessive sedentary behavior is a significant risk factor for developing cardiovascular diseases. Even people who engage in regular physical exercise may suffer negative effects on their heart health from prolonged sitting.

The main reasons for this phenomenon are linked to prolonged sitting reducing cardiovascular activity, increasing cholesterol and blood sugar levels, and contributing to weight gain. Together, these factors elevate the risk of serious illnesses such as hypertension, ischemic heart disease, and strokes.

To reduce this risk, experts recommend:

  • Standing up and stretching for a few minutes every hour,
  • Taking short breaks for stretching and walks,
  • Incorporating an active lifestyle, including activities such as biking, hiking, dancing, or participating in group sports,
  • Maintaining proper posture by adjusting your workspace for comfort,
  • Being mindful of your sedentary time and actively managing it by standing up and moving frequently,
  • Engaging in at least 150 minutes of moderate-intensity exercise per week.

Even small changes in daily life can have a positive effect on heart and vascular health. Remember, caring for your health begins with understanding the risks and taking proactive measures to mitigate them.
